I have been a bit remiss about keeping this diary updated this year. However, following a wet winter, the warm weather has produced a bonanza of birds feeding at my various feeders.
Many representatives of the Tit family, goldcrests, greenfinches, pied wagtails as well as my usual mix of sparrows, chaffinches, blackbirds and greater spotted woodpeckers! The mallard duck in the pond has produced another fine brood of ducklings this year.
However, today I was delighted to see a half-dozen swallows skimming over the field in front of Bodfan, catching insects. This is the true sign that summer is on its way. They looked wonderful and filled me with optimism!
